In this episode, we wrap up our study of Matthew 13, a chapter overflowing with treasure. Through His parables, Jesus continues to reveal the mysteries of His Kingdom and what it truly means to follow Him as the Messiah.
Steve closes the chapter with Matthew 13:52, a short verse that carries a big message: “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.” Jesus isn’t asking us to choose between the old and the new. The riches of the Old Testament and the fulfillment revealed in Christ go hand in hand, each shedding light on the other. The disciple who understands the Kingdom learns to draw from both.
This is an episode Steve especially recommends sharing, not only with fellow Catholics but with Protestant friends as well. The call to treasure the whole of God’s revelation, old and new together, is one that all Christians can embrace.
